Cricket enthusiasts will have to wait longer to witness the upcoming women’s series between India and Bangladesh. The tour, which was scheduled to take place in December and included a total of six white-ball matches—three ODIs and three T20Is—has been postponed indefinitely. Officials from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have confirmed that the BCCI has communicated the need to reschedule the series for a later time. Although the official reason for the delay remains undisclosed, prevailing political sensitivities between India and Bangladesh are widely believed to be a contributing factor. This series held considerable importance as it was designated as India’s final international cricket commitment prior to the 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL) and served as the sole fixture between their strong ODI World Cup performance and the WPL. The planned itinerary included matches in Kolkata and Cuttack, with the ODIs intended to kickstart the new Women’s ODI Championship cycle for both nations. Notably, a similar postponement occurred earlier this year when the Indian men’s cricket team’s white-ball tour to Bangladesh was shifted from August 2025 to September 2026, citing scheduling conflicts and mutual convenience. The cricket boards of both countries are expected to announce the revised dates and schedule for the women’s tour in the near future.
