Preparations are underway for the Asia Cup 2025, scheduled to start on September 9th. Bangladesh is among the eight teams gearing up for the tournament, which will be played in the T20 format this year. To boost their performance, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has brought in power-hitting coach Julian Wood.
Wood is implementing a unique training regime using the ProVelocity bat, an equipment typically used in baseball and softball. This training aims to enhance the power-hitting capabilities of the Bangladeshi cricketers. Images circulating on social media showcase Wood working with players like Litton Das, guiding them through various shots using the specialized bat.
The ProVelocity bat, measuring 32 inches and weighing approximately 1190 grams, is designed to improve hand-eye coordination. A Bangladeshi batsman noted the novelty of the approach and the positive experience of training with Wood.
Wood’s expertise in power-hitting has previously benefited England’s batsmen, leading to noticeable improvements in their game. In the upcoming Asia Cup, Bangladesh will kick off their campaign on September 11th against Hong Kong, competing alongside Sri Lanka and Afghanistan in their group.
