The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially lodged a protest concerning events that transpired after a recent Asia Cup 2025 match. Immediately after the game concluded, the Indian players Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube went directly to the changing room, foregoing the traditional post-match handshake with the Pakistani team. This move has caused significant consternation within the PCB.
The PCB released a statement detailing the situation. According to the statement, Pakistan’s captain, Salman Ali Agha, was advised not to initiate a handshake with his Indian counterpart. This instruction, alongside the subsequent actions of the Indian players, has resulted in the PCB’s formal protest. The PCB views the behavior as contrary to the spirit of sportsmanship.
Salman Ali Agha demonstrated his discontent by declining to participate in the post-match presentation. The host of the ceremony was also an Indian. On the field, the Pakistani team’s batting faltered, leading to a score of only 127 runs. Despite this, the lack of a handshake after the match deeply upset both head coach Mike Hesson and captain Salman Agha.
