In a thrilling DPL 2025 encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the West Delhi Lions achieved a resounding win against the South Delhi Superstarz in match number seven. The Lions’ success was largely due to the exceptional opening partnership of Ankit Kumar and Krish Yadav, who effectively neutralized the South Delhi bowling. The Superstarz, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, set a target of 186 runs. In response, the West Delhi Lions’ openers, Krish Yadav and Ankit Kumar, put together an impressive 158-run partnership in a mere 14 overs. Krish Yadav’s aggressive 67 from 42 balls, and Ankit Kumar’s explosive 96 from 46 deliveries were key to the chase.
South Delhi Superstarz began their innings with a promising start, thanks to openers Kunwar Bidhuri (42 off 27) and Sumit Mathur (33 off 29), who built a strong 74-run opening stand. Captain Ayush Badoni added a valuable 48 off 25 balls in the middle overs. However, their innings faltered towards the end, resulting in a final score of 185/7 from their 20 overs.
West Delhi’s bowling unit tightened in the closing overs, preventing South Delhi from maximizing their score. Anirudh Chowdhary stood out with figures of 3/25 in his 4-over spell. He was well supported by Manan Bhardwaj, who took 2/23, and Hrithik Shokeen, who contributed with 1/16, as the Lions applied pressure in the death overs. The West Delhi Lions demonstrated a complete team effort, combining disciplined bowling with dynamic batting. The Lions confidently surpassed the set target, winning the match with 14 balls to spare.
