The SA20 2026 auction saw a fierce bidding war for Markram. Durban Super Giants ultimately won the bid, securing him for a record-breaking 7 crore rupees, initially the highest bid of the tournament. This record was later surpassed by Dewald Brevis. Markram’s participation in the auction itself was a surprise for many cricket enthusiasts.
