Get ready for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026! The full complement of 20 teams has now been finalized, with the tournament set to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. This expanded format guarantees an even more thrilling competition. The last three qualification berths were clinched recently by Nepal, Oman, and the UAE, who advanced from the competitive Asia/East Asia-Pacific Qualifier.
This will be Nepal’s third T20 World Cup appearance and their second in a row. Oman makes its fourth appearance, and the UAE returns for its third, with their last outing being in 2022.
European side Italy is poised to make its debut at the T20 World Cup, having successfully navigated the European Qualifier alongside the Netherlands. The 2024 champions, India, will enter the 2026 tournament aiming to retain their title. They are among the elite group of teams with multiple T20 World Cup victories, alongside England and the West Indies.
The tournament structure for 2026 will feature 20 teams organized into four groups of five. The top two from each group will proceed to the Super Eights stage. This phase will consist of two groups of four, with the leading two sides from each progressing to the high-stakes semi-finals.
The 20 teams set to compete are: India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, USA, West Indies, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, Canada, Italy, Netherlands, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Nepal, Oman, and UAE.
