Rural women are getting employment through a rakhi made with chind leaves . The women of the group are making rakhi, but also making many attractive decorative items from the leaves of chhanda. On the initiative of District Administration Dantewada, the group has also been provided with a stall for sale in the Collectorate premises.
Training has also been given by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dantewada to make rakhi of women groups. Senior scientist of this center, Dr. Narayan Sahu, said that to provide employment to rural women, training has been given to make herbal and green rakhi as well as for making bouquets and other decorative items. During the training, various types of materials including leaves of chinda have been made available for the manufacture of these items by women groups.
People are liking green and herbal rakhi prepared by women’s groups. Ashes and decorative items are being sold hands-on in the sales stalls set up at the collectorate. The women of Jhara Mata Nandamurin Women’s Farmers Organization of village Jhodiyabadam manufacture these items Smt. Rambati Podayam, Smt. Sharmili Nag, Ku. Rajamani, Ku. Saraswati Podzham, Ku. Rinke Baghel is doing Mrs. Mansi Vasudev. Along with him, Divyang Anil also helps in making rakhi.
Dr. Narayan Sahu said that bouquets and other decorative items prepared by the group are used to welcome the guests to the ceremony to be held in the district. With this the group is continuously earning income. District administration Dantewada is constantly encouraging and helping women groups to carry out economic activities.
