Bhopal : Consumers whose houses have been shut down for 5 to 42 hours in the city, will now claim to get damages from the power company. Electricity was shut off in the first heavy rains at the homes of these consumers. These consumers live in the Sharda Vihar Colony area on Danish Kunj, Neelbad and Kerwa Roads. They had also complained of power failure, even after 5 hours to 42 hours the supply was restored.

Consumers have the right to get a compensation of 50 to 100 rupees if the electricity is not switched on within four hours on working days and five hours on holidays. This compensation has to be paid by the power company as a rebate in electricity bills. These consumers say that the power company has never told them these rules. Such consumers have said that Navdunia has helped in publishing the rules for getting damages in the Sunday issue.
