Your government itself gave Padma Vibhushan to Sharad Pawar: Supriya Sule hits back at PM Modi

Mumbai:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given a statement regarding Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar in the Shirdi rally on Thursday. Now his son and NCP MP Supriya Sule has hit back at PM Modi. Sule said that it was the Modi government which had given the country’s second highest civilian award Padma Vibhushan to Sharad Pawar for his work in the agriculture sector. The contribution of the NCP founder to the farmers should not be underestimated.

Actually, PM Modi held a rally in Shirdi in Ahmednagar district on Thursday. During this time, PM Modi had said without naming Sharad Pawar, “Some people in Maharashtra did politics only in the name of farmers. A senior leader of Maharashtra worked as the Agriculture Minister of the country. I personally respect him.” I do, but what has he done for the farmers?”

Let us tell you that Sharad Pawar was the Agriculture Minister in the Congress-led UPA government (2004-14). PM Modi also said that when Pawar was the Union Agriculture Minister, farmers were at the mercy of middlemen.

Speaking to reporters in Sindhdurg district, Supriya Sule said, “Whenever the Prime Minister comes to Maharashtra, he calls NCP an inherently corrupt party.” Sule, MP from Baramati, said, “Pawar Saheb was given Padma Vibhushan by the Modi government for his work in agriculture and politics.”

Earlier on Friday afternoon, former state minister Anil Deshmukh said that Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar should have left the stage to protest in Shirdi or PM Modi should have said the right thing.

Deshmukh told reporters in Nagpur, “Ajit Dada should have left the stage (in protest) or given proper information to PM Modi, so that he can correct his statement.” Deshmukh said that PM Modi had in the past Sharad Pawar has been praised for his contribution to the farming community.
