Earthquake in Afghanistan: The death toll from the powerful earthquake in western Afghanistan has increased to 2,000. A Taliban spokesman said that 465 houses were razed to the ground and 135 were damaged. “Partners and local authorities expect the death toll to rise as search and rescue operations continue amid reports that some people may still be buried under debris,” the UN said.
