    SAFF U19 Championship: Indian team defeats Nepal, will face Pakistan in the final

    SAFF U19 Championship: India’s Under-19 football team has performed strongly. Team India defeated Nepal 3-2 through penalty shootout in its semi-final match on Wednesday. Now the Indian team will face Pakistan in the final of the SAFF Under-19 Championship. India’s match will be held at Dashrath Stadium on Saturday.

    Talking about the semi-final match, after the score remained 1-1 till the stipulated time, the match went into tiebreaker. Sahil Khurshid had put India ahead in the 26th minute, but Nepal equalized through Sameer Tamang’s goal in the 74th minute. After this there was a tough competition between the two teams.

    When the score was tied at 2-2 in the tie-breaker, Mangalenthang Kipgen emerged as the star, scoring a brilliant goal to make the score 3-2 and give his team the victory. Apart from Kipgen, the other two scorers in the shoot-out were Arjun Singh Oinam and Gwagmasar Goyari. India performed brilliantly throughout the tournament. In the group stage, the Indian team defeated Bangladesh and Bhutan. It then qualified for the knockout stage.

    Kipgen came on in the 66th minute in place of Blue Colts captain Ishan Shishodia. Talking about the performance of Pakistan team, in the first semi-final of the day, Pakistan had defeated Bhutan 6-5. That match also went to tiebreaker.
