The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that a pressure area has developed over the south-east and south-west Arabian Sea, which is likely to turn into a cyclonic storm by the morning of October 21.

The IMD said the low pressure system formed at 11:30 a.m. Friday about 900 km east-southeast of Socotra (Yemen), 1,170 km east-southeast of Salalah Airport (Oman) and 1,260 km east-southeast of Al Ghaidah (Yemen). This system is expected to move towards west-northwest by Sunday morning. After this, it is predicted to move north-north-east towards the Bangladesh coast.
