On the occasion of National Sports Day, a sports festival was organized at the District Athletics Stadium in Baralota. The event, held to commemorate the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, was attended by Palamu MP V.D. Ram. The MP interacted with participants in various competitions, including running races and traditional sports like Kho-Kho and Kabaddi. Winners received medals and certificates from the MP and District Sports Officer Ratan Kumar Singh. The MP began the event by paying respects to a picture of Major Dhyan Chand and subsequently initiated the games. He mentioned the MP Sports Festival 2025, launched under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, with the portal for registration opening on August 29th. The aim is to find and promote talent from rural and underprivileged communities by providing a platform for their participation. Competitions will take place at the Gram Panchayat, Block, and District levels, with registration open until September 20th. The festival will feature a variety of sports, including volleyball, badminton, athletics, karate, wrestling, Kho Kho, Kabaddi, and tug-of-war.
