Manchester City have extended their wait to win the title by beating Arsenal 3–0.

Manchester City defeated Arsenal’s team, playing with ten players, 3–0 in the first match played on the 100-day return of the English Premier League. This victory by City extended Liverpool’s wait to win the prestigious football competition title for the first time in 30 years. When Rahim Sterling scored the first goal for City in the first half’s injury time, no other person was present at the stadium to celebrate it. In the last three months due to the corona virus, applause was made only for the health workers. Arsenal suffered a setback early in the second half when David Lewis was dismissed with a red card. City received a penalty which was converted into a goal in the 51st minute by Kevin Di Bruen.

Phil Boden scored the third goal for City in the second half injury time. Manchester City’s second-placed win has led to 60 points from 29 matches. If his team lost this match, Liverpool would have won the title on Sunday with a win over Everton. Liverpool currently have 82 points from 29 matches. He now needs two more wins for the title. With this match, the Premier League also returned after three months but the matches were played at the empty stadium. Only 300 people were allowed to come to the stadium including players, support staff and health workers. Arsenal suffered a seventh defeat and remain in ninth position with 40 points. Another match played between Aston Villa and Sheffield United missed a goalless draw. Sheffield United now have 44 points from 29 matches and are in sixth place. Aston Villa only have 26 points in so many matches.
