Bengaluru: A day after BJP MLA Ok Madal Virupakshappa’s son Prashanth Madal was caught red-handed whereas accepting a bribe of Rs 40 lakh, Lokayukta officers on Friday recovered unaccounted money of greater than Rs six crore from his home. Reacting to raid carried out by the anti-corruption wing of Lokayukta on the home of BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa`s son Prashant Madal, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai on Friday mentioned that Lokayukta is impartial, and let free and truthful investigation occur. Prashanth, the chief accountant of the Bangalore Water Provide and Sewerage Board, was caught red-handed on Thursday night whereas accepting the bribe from a contractor Shreyas Kashyap of Chemixil Company on the Karnataka Cleaning soap and Detergents Restricted (KSDL) workplace.
Lokayukta Justice B.S. Patil had said that “through the raid Rs 2.2 crore was recovered. Rs 6.10 crore was recovered from the residences later.”

The event is seen as a critical setback to the ruling BJP. The incident has come to mild at a time when the opposition is launching assaults as regards to 40 per cent fee and kickbacks within the authorities tenders.
Virupakshappa, MLA from Channagiri constituency in Davanagere district, is the chairman of KSDL and Prashanth was allegedly receiving ‘first installment’ of the bribe on behalf of his father, in line with Lokayukta sources.
Dealing with the warmth, Virupakshappa earlier at present tendered his resignation from the publish. In his resignation letter to the Chief Minister, he mentioned there is no such thing as a “relation” between him and the Lokayukta raid which he termed as a ‘conspiracy’ towards him and his household.
“Regardless of that since an allegation has been levelled towards me, I’m taking ethical duty and submitting my resignation from the publish of KSDL Chairman”, he mentioned.
CM Bommai Says These Responsible Will Be Punished
In his response, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai mentioned the lure was proof that the Lokayukta has been “revived” to examine corruption in contrast to the earlier Congress regime which created a separate anti-corruption bureau aside from the Lokayukta establishment to cowl up their unsuitable deeds.
“Our motive is to punish culprits, all particulars are with Lokayukta, whose cash was that, the place it comes from, the whole lot should come out,” he added.

Former Chief Minister and senior Congress chief Siddaramaiah mentioned the MLA’ s son demanding bribes is “proof of the 40 per cent fee authorities functioning within the state”.
