The IMD’s latest weather update highlights the ongoing influence of the southwest monsoon, with predictions of heavy rainfall in several regions. Heavy rainfall is expected to persist in the northeastern states and Maharashtra for the next two to three days. The withdrawal of the monsoon is expected to continue from portions of Rajasthan, Punjab, and Gujarat within the next two days, with the withdrawal line currently situated over Sri Ganganagar, Nagaur, Jodhpur, and Barmer.
Weather systems in northeastern, central, and south peninsular states will be affected by upper air cyclonic circulation over central Assam, east Bihar, and the southeast Bay of Bengal. The forecast for Tuesday, September 16, includes light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Telangana, and Karnataka are predicted to receive light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds until September 17. Strong surface winds are also expected in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema during the next five days. West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, and Bihar will experience light to moderate rain on September 16, while Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra are also in line for rainfall on Tuesday. Moreover, the IMD anticipates moderate rain and thunderstorms in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and East Uttar Pradesh.
