In an operation conducted jointly by the Noida STF and Baghpat Police in Baghpat’s Kotwali area, an encounter took place with a truck robbery gang. During the exchange of fire, a wanted dacoit was shot by the police. He later died from his injuries at the hospital.
The dacoit was identified as Sandeep, son of Satveer, from Bhaini Maharajganj, Mahem, Rohtak. He was wanted in connection with a truck robbery case in the Panki police station area of Kanpur, where nickel plates worth around four crore rupees were stolen. A one lakh rupee reward was announced for his apprehension.
Sandeep faced multiple charges of murdering truck drivers and carrying out highway robberies. Investigations revealed that he was involved in the murders of over four drivers and the subsequent looting of their trucks.
More than 16 cases of highway robbery and the murder of truck drivers are filed against him in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Haryana.
