The Sonipat Crime Branch Sector 7, part of the Anti-Gangster Unit, has arrested Ravi alias Lamba, a wanted criminal. The arrest took place after a shootout on Friday night near the Barona bypass in Kharkhoda. Ravi sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was promptly taken to CHC Kharkhoda for medical attention. A combined reward of Rs 45,000 was offered for his capture by the Delhi and Haryana Police. The arrest stems from FIR No. 525, dated September 16, 2024, which cites sections of the BNS and the Arms Act. Ravi was out on parole when he went absconding. A 32-bore pistol and a motorcycle were seized during the arrest. Ravi faces charges in about 18 serious criminal cases, including murder, attempted murder, extortion, and robbery. He was also wanted for the murder of Brijesh, the brother of gangster Ravi Munia. Investigations indicate that Ravi was affiliated with the Rajesh Bawana gang, engaging in activities such as issuing threats and extortion. The Haryana Police had a Rs 20,000 reward posted for his arrest, and the Delhi Police had offered Rs 25,000. Senior Sonipat police officials responded to the scene immediately to oversee the situation. Ravi is currently hospitalized under police supervision, and questioning is in progress. The police are investigating his connections and other criminal involvements, with plans to present him in court for further investigation and potential remand.
