An incident of violence involving a BJP leader has come to light in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, after a video depicting the assault of a Dalit engineer went viral. The event, which took place at the electricity department, allegedly involved the use of casteist language by the BJP leader. The engineer, named Lal Singh, a Superintending Engineer, recounted that a group of around twenty people entered his office and began assaulting him without cause. Singh alleged that former BJP Divisional President Munna Bahadur Singh was among the attackers. The video shows Munna Singh confronting officials, making an initial attempt to physically intimidate the engineer before using a shoe to hit the engineer multiple times. The engineer stated that Munna Bahadur Singh and his associates attacked him without any explanation, including striking him with a shoe and fists. Munna Bahadur Singh, however, stated he visited the office to submit an application regarding power disruptions in nearby villages, claiming the engineer responded with abusive language after they threatened to protest.
