An IPS officer, Anjana Krishna, is now under pressure following an argument with Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. NCP leader Amol Mitkari has urged the UPSC to examine the documentation of Anjana Krishna. Mitkari addressed a letter to the UPSC Secretary, raising concerns after a video went viral featuring Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. The core of the matter relates to the illegal mining of soil in the Madha area of Solapur. The viral video reportedly captures a phone conversation where Ajit Pawar instructs Anjana Krishna to stop the illegal mining activity, but Krishna denies recognizing him and the call is subsequently disconnected. This video has been widely shared on social media, causing a stir. Mitkari, representing the NCP, wrote to the UPSC Secretary requesting an investigation into Anjana Krishna’s educational certificates, caste certificates, and other supporting documents. The letter cites a lack of certainty surrounding the validity of the officer’s documents, requesting the commission to confirm their authenticity through an official inquiry. The episode unfolded when Anjana Krishna, upon learning about the illegal soil mining, immediately reached the location with her team. As she prepared to take action, NCP leader Baba Jagtap Singh contacted Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, urging him to communicate with Anjana. Anjana Krishna allegedly refused to acknowledge Pawar, requesting a call from his official number. The conversation ended abruptly, and the video spread rapidly online. Anjana Krishna is from Thiruvananthapuram. She achieved the 355th rank in the 2023 UPSC examination and currently holds the position of DSP in Karmala, Solapur. Her father is a small-scale cloth merchant, and her mother works as a typist in the court. Anjana Krishna is considered a fearless IPS officer.
