A man from Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, has caused a major family rift by marrying the woman originally slated to marry his son. The man, Shakeel, had arranged the marriage of his son. As family members voiced their opposition to the match, tensions rose and Shakeel reportedly resorted to violence, according to his wife, Shabana. Shakeel’s interactions with the woman, the future bride of his son, evolved into frequent and lengthy conversations. Shabana, Shakeel’s wife and mother of his six children, became suspicious and collected evidence. The son, upon discovering the affair, declined to go through with the marriage. Adding to the family drama, the son has alleged that his father left home with a substantial amount of money and gold before marrying the woman.
