The UIDAI is undertaking a nationwide initiative to update the biometric data of approximately 170 million children who possess Aadhaar cards but lack updated biometric information. This update is essential to ensure the accuracy and security of the Aadhaar system. Letters have been sent to state secretaries to coordinate the update process. Schools will host special camps to make the process convenient. The Ministry of Education has provided data on the UDISE Plus platform, enabling district officials and principals to monitor the progress of biometric updates within their schools. UIDAI CEO Bhuvanesh Kumar has written to Chief Secretaries of all states and Union Territories seeking their support in facilitating the biometric updates. The initial Aadhaar enrollment for children is linked to their parents’ Aadhaar, with subsequent biometric updates mandated at the ages of five and fifteen. The UIDAI is urging timely completion of these updates.
