Amidst growing restrictions on visas and the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI), US companies are reassessing their labor strategies. Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India are emerging as flexible hubs that combine global skills with robust domestic leadership. Deloitte India’s partner and GCC industry lead, Rohan Lobo, noted that GCCs are “uniquely positioned for this moment.” He mentioned that numerous US companies are reevaluating their workforce needs, with plans already underway, especially in sectors like financial services and technology, as well as among companies tied to US federal contracts. He anticipates that GCCs will handle “more strategic, innovation-led mandate work” over time.
Trump’s recent H-1B visa policy changes, including a substantial increase in application costs, have put pressure on US companies reliant on foreign talent to fill critical skill gaps.
