In West Bengal, a drawing teacher, Nirupam Pal, was severely beaten in Belgharia for opposing public drinking. The incident, which occurred in the Nandanagar area, involved four young men and a woman who were consuming alcohol on the roadside. Pal, who was returning from a Kali Puja event, was attacked after he asked the group to stop drinking in public, suffering injuries to his chest, face, and eyes. Separately, a tragic road accident in Bihar claimed the lives of eight individuals on Saturday morning. The accident, involving a collision between an auto-rickshaw and a heavy vehicle, happened on the Daniyawan-Hilsa road in the Shahjahanpur police station area. The victims, residents of Reddy Malama village, were en route to Fatuha for a holy dip in the Ganga River.
