Elon Musk’s Starlink is slated to begin its operations in India within two months, having secured a license from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). This marks Starlink as the third company to obtain such a license, following Eutelsat’s OneWeb and Reliance Jio. As part of its launch strategy, Starlink will provide a free one-month trial to customers who purchase the necessary equipment. The company plans to price its satellite dish device at approximately ₹33,000, and the monthly subscription for unlimited data is expected to be around ₹3,000. Starlink aims to revolutionize internet connectivity in remote and underserved areas of India, leveraging its low Earth orbit satellite constellation to provide high-speed internet access. The pricing in India is in line with that of Bangladesh and Bhutan, where the device is similarly priced. Starlink currently serves more than 100 countries, offering both residential and roaming services, with various plans to accommodate different user requirements. The company has previously partnered with major Indian telecom companies, including Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel.
