The project, a large-scale endeavor by the Indian government, encompasses a transshipment port, an international airport, power plants, and plans for a new city on Great Nicobar Island. Sonia Gandhi’s article in The Hindu newspaper raises concerns about the project’s impact on the environment and the indigenous communities of the Nicobar Islands. The article highlights the potential harm to the region’s unique flora and fauna, as well as the vulnerability of the area to natural disasters.
