Security forces are on high alert throughout India due to the upcoming Independence Day. Despite increased security, adversaries have attempted to infiltrate the border regions. However, these attempts have been unsuccessful. The army has successfully prevented an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Baramulla sector. During the encounter with the infiltrators, a soldier lost his life.
The infiltration attempt took place in the Uri sector of Baramulla district, specifically in the village of Chirunda. The security forces intercepted the attempt. Tragically, a soldier was killed in the resulting clash between security forces and militants. The encounter is still ongoing, and the army has secured the area and started a thorough search operation. The sound of gunfire from the ongoing battle is audible in the surrounding areas.
Over the past week, there have been multiple encounters in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces are maintaining high vigilance to prevent any security breaches, especially in light of Independence Day.
Prior to this incident, there were encounters at three different locations.
In the week leading up to this incident, there were simultaneous encounters in Kishtwar, Kathua, and Baramulla. Security forces successfully neutralized four militants in the Chak Tapper Kreeri Pattan area of Baramulla. The army also seized weaponry. In that week, two soldiers were killed, and two others were wounded. This is the second time in a week that soldiers have been martyred in the Jammu and Kashmir region.
