Kolkata police have arrested a security guard as part of their investigation into the gang-rape of a law student. The arrest, made on Saturday, is the fourth in this case.
The law student, 24, alleged that she was assaulted by several people within the college’s guard room. The student, who hails from South 24 Parganas, reported the incident to the authorities.
Before the alleged attack, the student was reportedly offered a significant role in the student union. Police stated, “Pinaki Banerjee, the 55-year-old security guard from the Law College, has been apprehended in connection with the case.”
