A special event was held at the Bhagidari Bhawan in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, organized by the ‘Rashtradharma’ magazine to commemorate the centenary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The event featured the release of the special issue, ‘Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh: 100 Years of Thought Journey.’
Addressing the gathering, RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Dattatreya Hosabale underscored the significance of ‘Rashtradharma’ as an enduring principle and the responsibility of every Indian to contribute to the nation. He emphasized the magazine’s inception in the challenging period of 1948-49, aimed at fostering an ideological transformation within society, rather than seeking monetary benefits.
Hosabale discussed the ethos of a ‘swayamsevak,’ emphasizing their sense of belonging and integration within society. He reflected on the RSS’s century-long journey, marked by numerous sacrifices and struggles by its workers who remained committed to their mission. He also paid tribute to the contributions of prominent figures such as Deendayal Upadhyaya and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The Sarkaryavah spoke about India’s growing global stature and the need for the nation to guide the world through its spiritual heritage, culture, and values. He clarified that the RSS’s objective is not limited to organizational growth, but focuses on individual refinement.
The program also acknowledged the historical journey of the ‘Rashtradharma’ magazine. The first issue, published on August 31, 1947, included Deendayal Upadhyaya’s article ‘Chiti’ and Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s poem ‘Hindu Tan Man.’ In its early days, Deendayal ji personally operated the printing press, while Atal ji distributed the issues by bicycle.
Vinod Solanki presided over the event. Aarti Rana, a special guest, shared her insights on the empowerment of women from the Tharu community. The event was attended by several dignitaries including All India Pracharak Pramukh Swantaranjan ji, Cabinet Minister Aseem Arun, and Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, concluding with the national anthem.
