Following the recent Bihar Assembly elections, the BJP has expelled former Union Minister RK Singh and suspended two key figures in the Bihar unit for engaging in activities deemed detrimental to the party. RK Singh, a former Union Power Minister and ex-Union Home Secretary, had publicly voiced concerns regarding corruption and internal divisions within the NDA coalition. His criticisms extended to the Election Commission’s handling of electoral security, particularly referencing the violence that occurred in Mokama. Singh had also advised voters in Bihar to abstain from supporting candidates with criminal backgrounds, even those associated with the NDA. His candid remarks and accusations have led to his current suspension, signaling a firm approach to party discipline. Simultaneously, Bihar BJP suspended MLC Ashok Kumar Agarwal and Katihar Mayor Usha Agarwal, his wife, due to alleged anti-party conduct. The controversy stems from Ashok Agarwal’s decision to nominate his son, Saurav Agarwal, for a Katihar seat under a VIP ticket, bypassing party protocols. They are required to respond to the allegations within seven days.
