Priya Saroj, a 26-year-old politician and lawyer, is the current Member of Parliament from Machhlishahr. She is the daughter of Tufani Saroj, who has served as an MP three times and is presently the MLA from Kerakat. Priya won her first election in the 2024 general elections representing the Samajwadi Party, led by Akhilesh Yadav. Born in Varanasi on November 23, 1998, she studied at the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute, New Delhi. She earned a BA from Pradesh University (Turkey) and an LLB from Amity University, Noida. Before entering politics, she practiced law in the Supreme Court of India. It is reported that Priya’s initial ambition was to become a judge, which led her to pursue a career in politics. In the 2024 elections, she secured a victory in Machhlishahr, a seat previously held by her father, with a significant margin of 35,850 votes. Her campaign centered on key issues such as youth employment and women empowerment.
