Motorists facing pending traffic challans are encouraged to take advantage of the Lok Adalat scheduled for September 13, 2025. The event provides a chance to settle fines at reduced rates. Registration is essential; a token number and appointment letter are required to be heard. Without these, participation is not possible.
To register, visit the NALSA website, find the Lok Adalat registration option, and fill out the form. Upload necessary documents and submit. Your token number and appointment details will be sent electronically.
Important: Bring original documents, the token number, and the appointment letter to the hearing. Aim to arrive an hour early.
The Lok Adalat addresses minor traffic infractions, potentially offering exemptions or reductions on fines. This includes offenses like not wearing a seat belt or helmet, ignoring red lights, incorrect challans, speeding, driving without a valid PUC, parking illegally, driving without a license or fitness certificate, lane violations, disregarding traffic signals, and driving without a number plate.
Cases involving severe offenses such as drunk driving, hit-and-run accidents, deaths due to negligence, illegal racing, underage driving, vehicles used in criminal activities, ongoing court cases, and out-of-state challans will not be handled at the Lok Adalat.
During the hearing, cases will be heard in the order of the token numbers. The judge can waive or adjust the fine amount. If a violation is serious, a fine may still be imposed. Once a decision is made, the case will be closed.
