During a ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Gaya, Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi accused the Election Commission of being involved in ‘theft’. He stated that the alleged ‘theft’ by the EC would be exposed across all states. Gandhi emphasized the EC’s accountability and said that the ‘theft’ has been identified. He further announced that the nation would seek an affidavit from the EC. Gandhi vowed to reveal the EC’s actions in every state, Lok Sabha constituency, and Vidhan Sabha constituency. He drew a comparison to government announcements of special packages, suggesting the EC had introduced a ‘special package’ for Bihar. Highlighting past electoral issues, he mentioned the Maharashtra elections. He stated that the EC had magically added one crore voters between the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections. Despite his alliance winning the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP alliance secured victory in the subsequent state polls. He said his party’s alliance received the same votes, but the BJP won due to the new voters, thereby ‘stealing’ the elections in Maharashtra and Haryana, according to him.
