Rahul Gandhi, a member of the Indian Parliament from the Congress party, addressed the press to discuss alleged voter irregularities, directly accusing the government and the Election Commission. He presented a detailed account, showing how votes had been deleted, specifically targeting Congress voters. Gandhi accused Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of shielding individuals involved in damaging the democratic process. Gandhi provided specific instances of vote deletion, using the Aland constituency in Karnataka as an example. He described an incident where an attempt was made to remove more than 6,000 votes, and where a booth-level officer uncovered the deletion of his uncle’s vote, tracing it back to a neighbor. Gandhi pointed out a centralized system of vote deletion, highlighting the automated filing process using mobile numbers from outside the state, with the aim of removing Congress voters. He mentioned cases of voters, such as Godabai, whose votes were deleted without their awareness. He also referenced instances of rapid vote deletion, including one case where 12 votes were deleted in 14 minutes, and another where two forms were filed in 36 seconds. Gandhi also stated that he is now getting help from people inside the Election Commission.
