On August 15, 2025, India will mark its 79th year of independence. The focus of the country and the world will be on Delhi’s iconic Red Fort, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver his address to the nation from the fort’s ramparts. This will be the Prime Minister’s twelfth Independence Day address. The program will commence around 7:30 AM. The national flag will be unfurled at 7:35 AM. At 7:37 AM, the national anthem will be sung, accompanied by a national salute. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech will begin at 7:45 AM. The Prime Minister will be welcomed at the Red Fort by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other high-ranking officials. A Guard of Honour will be presented to the Prime Minister by the Indian Armed Forces and the Delhi Police. The national flag party will include personnel from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Delhi Police. The 128-member contingent will offer a national salute during the flag hoisting. Following the hoisting, the Tricolour will receive a national salute. An Air Force band, composed of one JCO and 25 other ranks, will perform the national anthem during the flag hoisting and salute.
