The ongoing ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ (Voter Rights March) in Bihar, spearheaded by the Mahagathbandhan, has seen the involvement of significant figures from the Congress party. Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders are actively participating in the march. The tenth day of the march witnessed the addition of Priyanka Gandhi and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. This has triggered a strong reaction from Prashant Kishor, the founder of the Jan Suraaj Party.
Prashant Kishor expressed his disapproval, stating, “If the Congress, along with Rahul Gandhi and the alliance, has brought Revanth Reddy to Bihar for campaigning, it reveals their perception of Bihar. Revanth Reddy is the very person who asserted that the people of Bihar are genetically inclined towards labor.”
He went on to say that if the Congress is allowing such a person to share the stage in Bihar and is promoting him everywhere, every individual in Bihar bears the responsibility to send him back to Telangana. This is to make him remember that if Biharis are born only to work as laborers, why is he campaigning for votes in the state?
Earlier, Prashant Kishor posted on X, saying, “Revanth says that the DNA of Biharis is for labor. Rahul Gandhi is parading him on the Bihar stage, which shows his anti-Bihar mindset. If Revanth comes to the village, the public will chase him away with sticks and batons.”
The controversy stems from Revanth Reddy’s statement made two years ago. Prashant Kishor brought attention to this, stating it was an insult to the people of Bihar. During December 2024, Reddy criticized the then-Chief Minister KCR, commenting, “My DNA is from Telangana, KCR’s DNA is from Bihar. Telangana’s DNA is better than Bihar’s.”
Reddy’s statement caused a stir, with many political parties protesting against it. BJP leaders called it casteist and divisive. Reddy’s inclusion in the Voter Rights March has stirred the controversy again.
