Following the devastating plane crash in Ahmedabad, the Samajwadi Party has decided to postpone all upcoming events and functions. Party leader Akhilesh Yadav conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved families, announcing a three-day suspension of SP activities. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has also cancelled his scheduled programs for Friday in response to the tragedy. The flight, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, was carrying 242 individuals, including crew members, when it crashed soon after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The incident resulted in the aircraft colliding with a doctors’ hostel in the Meghani Nagar area. The Goa government has declared a day of state mourning. Rescue operations are being supported by the CRPF and the Army, with engineers and medical teams on-site. Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was also among the passengers. President Droupadi Murmu expressed her condolences and highlighted Rupani’s dedication to the people. Vijay Rupani served as Gujarat’s Chief Minister from 2016 to 2021 and was also the BJP’s in-charge for Punjab. The aircraft was piloted by Captain Sumeet Sabharwal and First Officer Clive Kundar. Air Traffic Control confirmed the aircraft’s departure from Runway 23 at 1339 IST (0809 UTC).
