In a significant interaction, Prime Minister Narendra Modi connected with Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, who is on the International Space Station (ISS) as part of the Axiom-4 mission. The video conference provided an opportunity to learn about Shukla’s experiences in space. PM Modi asked Shukla about his initial thoughts upon reaching space. Shukla stated that the view of Earth from space was striking, presenting a unified view without visible borders. He also expressed that India appeared much larger than depicted on maps. During the interaction, PM Modi also asked about the astronaut’s adaptation to the space environment. Shukla described the training, the challenges, and how everything is different in space, including the impact of zero gravity on daily tasks such as sleep.
