Gopal Khemka, a BJP leader and businessman, was murdered last night in Patna, close to his home. The killing took place near Gandhi Maidan South around 11 PM, causing widespread alarm in Bihar. The incident bears a tragic resemblance to the 2018 murder of Khemka’s son, Gunjan Khemka. Khemka was shot and declared dead at the location.
Police have cordoned off the area, gathering a bullet and a shell casing for investigation. Khemka was ambushed by an unidentified individual while en route to his residence in the Twin Tower society. Law enforcement is examining CCTV footage to identify the attacker, with the reason for the murder yet to be determined.
Khemka was a well-known businessman and the owner of Magadh Hospital. Pappu Yadav, the independent MP from Purnea, has condemned the Bihar government following Khemka’s death. He lamented the state’s deteriorating security, stating that criminals are running rampant. Yadav also referenced his earlier visit to Khemka’s family after his son’s death and emphasized the lack of justice in that case.
