With her recent commissioning, Lieutenant Parul Dhaddwal marks a significant milestone in her family’s history. She is the first woman to join the Indian Army from a family with a five-generation legacy of military service. Dhaddwal’s journey included rigorous training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai, culminating in her commission into the Army Ordnance Corps on September 6, 2025.
Throughout her training, Dhaddwal demonstrated exceptional prowess, earning her the top position in the Order of Merit. This outstanding accomplishment was recognized with the prestigious President’s Gold Medal, a testament to her discipline, commitment, and leadership qualities. Her roots are in Janouri village, Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, a place where military service is deeply embedded in the community.
