In response to rising security concerns, particularly after Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army has initiated Operation SHIVA 2025 to ensure a safe and secure Amarnath Yatra. This comprehensive security operation involves the Indian Army, Civil Administration, and CAPFs. The operation aims to establish strong security measures along the Northern and Southern routes of the Yatra. A significant force of over 8,500 troops is deployed, equipped with advanced technology and operational resources. The security architecture encompasses a counter-terrorism grid, proactive security measures, and corridor protection strategies. Key features of Operation SHIVA include a Counter-UAS grid, UAV surveillance, dedicated engineer task forces for infrastructure development, extensive medical support, and advanced communication systems. Emergency provisions are also in place, along with helicopter support for rapid response. The Indian Army is also using advanced technology for real-time tracking of Yatra convoys and constant situational awareness.
