To improve the highway travel experience for private vehicle owners, the government has launched a FASTag annual pass. This new offering uses RFID technology for automatic toll deduction from linked prepaid accounts, eliminating the need for repeated recharges. This initiative simplifies toll payments. This annual prepaid pass is designed for non-commercial vehicles like cars, jeeps, and vans. It allows for uninterrupted travel on National Highways and Expressways without toll payments at each plaza. The pass’s validity is limited to toll plazas on National Highways and Expressways; standard FASTag charges apply on other roads. To purchase the pass, users should go to the Rajmarg Yatra app or the NHAI/MoRTH website. After logging in with their vehicle number and FASTag ID, they must ensure their FASTag is active and linked, and complete a payment of Rs 3000. The pass will then be linked to their existing FASTag. The pass is available for vehicle owners whose FASTag is linked to their Vehicle Registration Number (VRN). If the FASTag is linked to the chassis number only, then the VRN and mobile number must be updated. Existing FASTag users with updated KYC don’t need a new tag; the pass can be activated on their current tag. The annual pass cannot be transferred to other vehicles. Doing so could lead to the FASTag being blacklisted. Vehicles with incomplete details (VRN or mobile number) must update the information.
