To improve Patna’s traffic flow, the Mithapur-Mahuli elevated road was officially opened on June 16th. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar led the inauguration of this new infrastructure project. The elevated road aims to provide substantial relief to the lakhs of residents in the southern part of Patna, improving their daily commute. It will also streamline travel to and from various districts in South Bihar, significantly cutting down on travel time and the frustration of traffic delays.
The Mithapur-Mahuli-Punpun project, a large-scale undertaking, encompasses the construction of this elevated road, extending from Bhupatipur to Punpun (NH-22) and costing Rs 1400 crore. The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen, along with several other dignitaries, including Ravi Shankar Prasad and Mrs. Misa Bharti, who represent Patna Sahib and Pataliputra constituencies respectively.
The opening of the Mithapur-Mahuli elevated road will greatly benefit the people living in southern Patna. Travel to cities like Jehanabad, Arwal, Bihar Sharif, and Gaya will now be more convenient. The first phase of the project, covering the stretch from Sipara to Mahuli, has already been completed. The construction of the Mithapur-Mahuli elevated road is taking place in two phases. Currently, work is underway on a 2.10 km elevated road from Mithapur to Sipara and a 2.20 km four-lane road from Mahuli to Punpun. The Road Construction Department anticipates the Mithapur to Sipara elevated road to be ready by November this year.
