A driver in Navi Mumbai found herself in a dangerous situation when relying on Google Maps for navigation. The app’s guidance led her car into a ditch near Belapur on Friday. The driver, traveling from Belapur to Ulwe, followed the directions provided by Google Maps. The directions took her beneath the Bay Bridge and towards Dhruvatara Jetty, ultimately resulting in the car entering the water. Authorities quickly intervened, rescuing the driver who had attempted to exit the vehicle. She was unharmed, and the car was later removed using a crane. This incident highlights the potential for errors in navigation apps.
This occurrence mirrors previous instances where Google Maps inaccuracies have led to dangerous outcomes, including a fatal accident in Faridpur where a bridge collapse resulted in three deaths.
