Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in observing Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat’s Ekta Nagar, honoring the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The day is dedicated to recognizing Patel’s monumental efforts in unifying India and celebrating the nation’s enduring spirit of unity amidst its diverse cultures.
Attending the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas parade, PM Modi witnessed a stirring display of national cohesion through marching contingents and cultural performances. A pivotal moment of the ceremony was the administration of an oath by the Prime Minister to protect India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He stated, “I take this oath to protect the unity and integrity of our country and dedicate myself to this cause,” underscoring a deep-seated commitment to national solidarity and internal security.
Prior to the parade, Prime Minister Modi paid his respects with prayers and floral tributes at the statue of the Iron Man of India. The parade itself was a grand spectacle, featuring impressive formations by the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and various state police forces.
On social media platform X, PM Modi shared his tribute: “India pays homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 150th Jayanti. He was the driving force behind India’s integration, shaping the nation’s destiny in its formative years. His dedication to unity, good governance, and public service continues to inspire generations.”
In a video address, the Prime Minister lauded Patel as the visionary behind India’s unification. He highlighted Patel’s remarkable capacity to unite diverse factions: “He had an exceptional ability to bring people together despite ideological differences. Sardar Patel merged the princely states, united the people with the freedom movement, and strengthened the spirit of unity in diversity,” PM Modi explained.
