In a significant move towards the Bihar Assembly elections, the BJP’s core group convened today at the home of National President J.P. Nadda to make final decisions on candidate selections. The meeting, starting at 11 a.m., included Union Home Minister Amit Shah and senior Bihar BJP leaders, underscoring the importance of these deliberations. This crucial session takes place just after the formal seat-sharing announcement for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was expected to be made public in Patna. The main focus of the Saturday meeting was to approve the BJP’s final list of candidates for the seats it will contest as part of the NDA. Panels of potential candidates have already been submitted by the Bihar BJP election committee to the party’s central leadership. Reports suggest that the initial batch of BJP candidates could be revealed as early as October 13, potentially featuring a joint list across the NDA coalition. Amidst these preparations, NDA allies are signaling a willingness to compromise. Chirag Paswan, leading the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), has indicated a positive outcome for seat-sharing talks, placing his trust in the Prime Minister. His party, which is rejoining the NDA after a non-contesting role in 2020, had initially sought a significant number of seats. Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi is also engaged in discussions regarding seat allocation. While Manjhi’s request for 15 seats might be adjusted, sources predict that both Paswan and Manjhi will agree to the finalized formula after discussions with top BJP leadership. The Bihar elections are scheduled across two phases on November 6 and 11, with the counting of votes set for November 14, 2025.
