The new design includes louvred doors and roof-mounted ventilation units to enhance airflow. Vestibules will also be installed to allow passengers to move between coaches, naturally easing congestion. The recent tragedy near Mumbra railway station, where four commuters died and nine were injured, highlighted the urgent need for these upgrades. The incident occurred as two packed trains passed each other, resulting in passengers falling from the footboards.
