The IMD has released a weather update forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall across numerous Indian regions. The monsoon is expected to bring significant rainfall to East, North, West, and Central India, potentially causing travel difficulties and increasing the risk of flooding. People are advised to be vigilant and only go outside if absolutely necessary. Uttarakhand and several northeastern states are on high alert. Widespread monsoon activity is predicted for Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, and North Interior Karnataka. Telangana will be affected on the 21st and 22nd, while Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam will experience the weather from the 24th to the 26th. The Met Department also warns of strong surface winds, reaching 30-40 kmph, in Andhra Pradesh and Yanam over the next five days. The northeastern states, encompassing Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, are likely to face isolated heavy rainfall until September 23. Gujarat, Goa, and Maharashtra are also predicted to experience torrential showers in the next 4 to 5 days. Isolated pockets in southwest Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands will also see intense showers. Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel to Chhattisgarh (September 24-26) and Odisha (September 23-26). Cyclonic circulation is likely to intensify the rainfall in these areas.
