The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for several states as heavy rainfall continues to disrupt daily life, leading to traffic issues. Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, is experiencing rainfall, while Nagpur, Maharashtra, is grappling with severe waterlogging. The IMD anticipates an active monsoon system over Central India for the next 4-5 days.
Extreme rainfall is predicted for Madhya Pradesh from July 9 to 14. Heavy downpours are also expected in Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh on July 9 and 10, West Bengal and Jharkhand on July 9, and Odisha on July 9, 13, and 14. Other regions under the weather watch include Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, West Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, and East Rajasthan.
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Nagpur has warned of potential moderate flash floods in watershed areas and surrounding areas in the coming hours. Gondia, Chandrapur, Nagpur, Amravati, Bhandara, and Chandrapur are likely to be impacted. The ongoing heavy rains are also causing damage to agricultural areas, affecting crop yields.
Over the next 24 hours, heavy rainfall is expected in Konkan, Goa, the Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Saurashtra, Kutch, and the Gujarat region. The northeastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh are urged to stay updated with the IMD’s weather bulletins due to the forecast of heavy rains from July 9 to 14.
