Mohan Bhagwat, the head of the RSS, participated in a Vidarbha Sanskar Bharati event held in Nagpur. This event was part of the celebrations marking the RSS’s centenary. Speaking at the Hedgewar Smriti Bhavan, Bhagwat stated that art within the Indian tradition is not limited to entertainment but serves a greater purpose. He elaborated on the concept of ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram,’ the core of Hindu art philosophy, linking truth, divinity, and beauty. He emphasized that the essence of art should reflect this principle as it contributes to the formation of good character.
He also highlighted the importance of culture, which he said is driven by values, and that the main goal of art is to instill these values. The Hedgewar Smriti Bhavan hosted a display of portraits, rangoli, and a booklet, organized by Vidarbha Sanskar Bharati, to honor 101 deceased Sangh campaigners and workers.
The centenary celebrations are planned for a year. The chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh mentioned that the RSS is completing 100 years, and the celebrations will last for a year. This will reflect on the RSS’s journey, how it started, the hurdles it overcame, and the sacrifices made. There are specific rules for the centenary celebrations.
The volunteers of the Sangh will carry out the work related to the centenary celebrations. These volunteers work in various organizations; however, the organizations will not be working independently. The centenary programs have been finalized, and RSS volunteers will implement these programs through the organizations they are part of, according to the RSS’s plans.
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is scheduled to commemorate its 100th anniversary, starting with the Dussehra celebrations this year. Seven major events will be hosted across the country from October 2, 2025, to October 20, 2026.
The aim of these events is to present the RSS’s century-long journey, current challenges, and potential solutions to society. These programs will take place at the local to provincial levels. In West Bengal, the events have commenced from the initial day of Navratri.
